Eckhart Tolle’s, The Power of Now, focuses on the idea that we can all reach the stage of complete enlightenment and happiness.
To have this you must reach full consciousness. For example, when your waiting in line, to not think about what your going to do tomorrow. Or what you did, or didn’t do last week.
You may question what fully conscious implies, Eckhart discusses exercises into becoming conscious and markers to suggest a break to digest what they have just read.
Sometimes life situations happen that are outside of our ‘plans’. However the emphasis is to accept the situation as what it ‘is’, no resistance. Just being at peace.
We are creatures of habit so I must admit I am not completely, or even slightly close to complete enlightenment. I feel like the book is something that needs to be read a few times before it becomes second nature to everyday life.
A recommended read for anyone wanting to ‘live in the now’ and who doesn’t want that?
