As we enter the last month of 2019, how are you feeling?
Are you feeling ready for this year to be over? Are you excited for what’s to come? Are you holding onto something, someone, somewhere that no longer helps you to grow into the best possible verison of yourself?
We all hold onto things. Old clothes that we no longer wear, waiting for ‘that day’ to bring it out again. A job, which we’re no longer happy in or able to grow in. Bad habits like drinking too excess.
Whatever it may be, it’s scary to let go of something you’ve held onto for so long. You believe without it, maybe you won’t feel as happy, fulfilled or able to grow.
With the beginning of a new month and with it being the final month of 2019, you owe it to yourself to take time to reflect on what it is that’s holding you back.
Do you have hoards of clothes and shoes you no longer wear? Ask yourself, do I really wear this? How much value does it add to my life?
Are you in a job that you cannot stand? Maybe you find yourself week after week, bored and not feeling excited about your life anymore. It’s not always as easy to leave, but its important you bring this into your awareness now and work on it whichever way possible. Get out your note pad and pen and get creative. Note what you don’t like about your current position and what your looking for in your next role. Your future self will thank you for it. The sky’s the limit within your journalling.
As you evolve, different things will be more valuable to you. This is a process that will chop and change as you get older. It’s important to recognise that in life, people, places and habits you will grow out of. As you develop, there’s no way all the old will come along for the journey. Guess what? That’s the point!
For example, you may go back to a particular place and find there’s no where to grow within that space anymore. It’s not that it doesn’t make you happy anymore but it feels stagnant, and you should always be looking to push forward in life.
You may meet up with a friend you haven’t seen in a long time and it’s great to see them again but you find you don’t get that same sparkly feeling you once got before. Perhaps within that time you’ve shifted in your mindset and you no longer serve one and other and it’s okay to be aware of that and simply let it go.
What are you letting go of this December? What are you letting go of for 2020?
If your unsure then I recommend you to find a quiet space, light a candle, get out your note pad and pen and it will help you to focus on what is no longer serving you and needs to be let go.
